About Kathryn

I am a licensed psychotherapist, mentor, herbalist-in-training, and artist based in Los Angeles. I am the founder of a group psychotherapy practice, Inner Vision Psychotherapy where I also supervise associate therapists as well as see my own clients, run groups and run an annual retreat, The Inner Wild in Morvern, Scotland.

At the heart of my work is a fascination with what it means to constantly be in a state of becoming, individuating into the fullest expression of who we authentically are. Whether through therapy, mentorship, herbalism, retreat work, or creative practice, I am interested in both the liminal when tension of the opposites pulls us apart into something new and perhaps unexpected.

I believe that each of us possesses an innate capacity for wisdom and flourishing that emerges when the right emotional and relational conditions are present. My work is devoted to helping create those conditions.

Human beings come to know themselves through relationship. We need reflection, conversation, and connection to help us see what can be difficult to recognize on our own. My role is not to tell people who they are, but to help them listen more closely to themselves, trust what they find, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

I was raised in southern Minnesota, where endless fields, forests, and lakes shaped my early relationship with nature, spirituality, and imagination. Although I now call Los Angeles home, I remain deeply rooted in the natural world. Nature continues to be one of my greatest teachers, informing everything from my clinical work to my study of herbalism.

My path into this work began long before graduate school. Experiences with loss, family experiences with addiction, resilience, caregiving and grief initiated some of my earliest questions about healing and the unseen forces that shape our lives. The deaths of both of my parents in 2014 became a profound turning point, deepening my understanding of love, surrender, and the ways we are transformed by life's most difficult passages. These experiences continue to inform the way I sit with others today.

Alongside my clinical work, I have spent much of my life exploring the creative process. From various forms of dance, acting, aerial gymnastics, and video art I learned early how we come to know ourselves first though expression. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a photographer and artist, a practice that continues to influence how I understand transformation. Photography taught me that being truly seen can change the way we see ourselves. In many ways, that understanding remains central to my work.

Over the years, I have come to believe that pain is not the only doorway to transformation. While suffering often initiates change, there are other pathways as well: curiosity, creativity, intuition, beauty, relationship, purpose, and love. Much of my work is devoted to helping people recognize and trust those quieter invitations and grow on the foundation of what is already working.

Whether we are working together through therapy, mentorship, herbalism, retreat, or creative practice, my intention is the same: to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to move toward a life that feels more deeply aligned with who you are and who you are becoming.
