EMDR & Trauma Healing
Trauma is a natural part of life and can create a lasting impact on the brain and body, causing our nervous systems to enter fight, flight or freeze.
Trauma is not defined by what happened to us, but by how overwhelming experiences become stored within the mind, body, and nervous system. When an experience exceeds our capacity to process it, we may find ourselves living with symptoms long after the event has passed—feeling anxious, disconnected, hypervigilant, emotionally reactive, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve us.
Trauma can emerge from a single distressing event, ongoing relational wounds, childhood experiences, loss, betrayal, or prolonged periods of stress. Often, the effects are subtle and may show up as difficulty trusting, challenges in relationships, perfectionism, people-pleasing, chronic self-criticism, or a persistent feeling that something is wrong despite outward success.
Healing is not about erasing the past. It is about helping the nervous system recognize that what happened is no longer happening and creating the conditions for greater freedom, choice, and connection in the present.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain naturally process and integrate experiences that have become "stuck." Through bilateral stimulation and guided processing, EMDR supports the nervous system in resolving the emotional charge associated with difficult memories, allowing them to be experienced as part of your history rather than something that continues to shape your present.
Clients often describe EMDR as transformative. Memories that once felt overwhelming become more distant and manageable. Limiting beliefs begin to soften. Greater self-compassion, clarity, and resilience emerge. Rather than remaining organized around old wounds, people often discover a renewed sense of vitality, possibility, and trust in themselves.
I integrate EMDR within a relational, attachment-based, and depth-oriented framework, honoring not only symptom relief but the deeper process of healing, integration, and personal transformation.
